The Problem
Comparing two Excel spreadsheets is one of those problems that sounds trivial but is annoyingly hard in practice. Excel doesn't have a built-in diff. Existing tools were either desktop-only, expensive, or required uploading files to unknown servers. The world needed a fast, browser-based comparison tool that just worked.
The Product
A standalone web utility. Upload two spreadsheets, get a cell-by-cell diff. No accounts, no friction. Started as part of a broader platform, then pivoted to a focused "diff" tool when usage data showed that was the only feature people came for.

What It Shows
This is the simplest thing on this site, and maybe the most revealing. No funding, no team, no launch strategy. Just a tool that solves a real problem, built once and left running. The global adoption happened because the problem is universal and the solution is obvious. That's the kind of product instinct that's hard to teach — you either see the gap or you don't.
